We need volunteers this summer!
As temperatures rise, Safe Space operates a vital cooling center to provide relief, hydration, and support for our unhoused neighbors. Volunteers help with set-up, hospitality, guest support, and daily operations—creating a safe and welcoming environment when it’s needed most. Summer is a critical time for mutual aid, and volunteering now is a great way to get involved, meet our team, and build experience if you're considering helping during our busy winter shelter season. Whether you have a few hours or a few weeks, your time can make a big difference.

From day one, Safe Space has been powered by volunteers, neighbors helping neighbors through the spirit of mutual aid.
Rooted in community care, our work is sustained by people who show up with compassion, time, and a shared belief that everyone deserves safety and dignity. Whether it's serving meals, offering support, or helping set up shelter space, our volunteers are the backbone of Safe Space, proving that when we care for each other, real change happens.
WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER ?
"I volunteer with Safe Space because no one should be left out in the cold—literally or figuratively. It’s not charity, it’s community."
— Winter Shelter Volunteer
"Safe Space isn’t about ‘us’ helping ‘them.’ It’s all of us taking care of each other the way a community should."
— Street Outreach Volunteer
