Winter Shelter
Safe Space Chico provides a warm place to sleep and eat during the coldest winter months. Click each carrot below to learn how you can serve the community this winter shelter.

Provide support by labeling and storing guest property for the night. Organize and store guest property. These shifts may include heavy lifting for those who are able.

Every morning and night we need volunteers to help organize donations and distribute supplies, prepare and distribute food and drink to guests, and clean the shelter as needed.

Every Sunday blankets, sheets, and pillows are washed at a local laundromat.
Help breakdown the shelter at the current hosting church, transport and set-up shelter at the new hosting church. This shift includes lifting tables and boxes. Vehicles are not required to volunteer for this shift.
Meal Providers
Safe Space Chico offers our guests a hot dinner and a to-go breakfast bag every day! Both meals are provided by volunteers. Click each carrot below to learn how you can serve the community this winter shelter.

Prepare to-go bags of individually wrapped and portable, easy-to-chew breakfast snacks, and drop at shelter. Please provide vegetarian and peanut-free alternatives if applicable.

Cook for and serve guests at the shelter. Prepare soft dinners such as spaghetti, beans and rice, soft tacos, and cooked veggies. Recommended for groups of volunteers. Provide vegetarian and peanut-free alternatives. goes here
Radical Resilience
Safe Space Chico operates a day rehabilitation program, Radical Resilience, from 7:00am-12:00pm, Monday-Friday. We need volunteers to help at the shelter, drop-off meals, and do our weekly laundry load. Click each carrot below to learn how you can serve the community through this program.

Help organize donations and distribute supplies, prepare and distribute food and drink to guests, clean shelter after closing.

Provide meals or food stuff for 20-30 individuals. easy-to-chew sandwiches, burritos, wraps, stews or pizza. Please provide vegetarian or peanut-free options if applicable.

Pick-up 2-3 loads of laundry (operational items) from the Safe Space office and drop off anytime Monday morning.
